KZN Marlins bounced back in grand style from their disastrous two-game defeat in last weekend’s opening round of the Basketball National League (BNL) with an emphatic this weekend against their Pool B rivals Northwest Goodfellas to remain in contention for a place in the quarter- finals at the end of the round robin stage of the inaugural tournament.
Playing before a big crowd at the Wembley Arena in Johannesburg Sakhile Sithole was easily the top scorer against an athletic-looking Goodfellas with 26 points while Darren Holcomb came off the bench with 14 and Lindo Sibankulu with another 8 points in an all-round game that saw him credited with 9 rebounds as Marlins posted a comfortable 74-59 win.

In their second game on Sunday Marlins continued where they left off to turn the tables on Mountaineers 79-67 after their one-point defeat to the Cape Town side in the opening round.
Sithole had another outstanding performance scoring 28 points with Sibankulu weighing in with 7 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Nkululeko Mthalane coming off the bench with 15 points.
Marlins were leading by 22 points (64-42) going into the fourth quarter which allowed coach Myles Delport to try some different combinations from the bench looking ahead to the play-offs when he will be looking to shorten his rotations.
